Climbing Waivers
Unsupervised Over 18
Unsupervised climbing is just that! Staff will provide whatever help and advice they can, but instruction in the use of equipment or climbing techniques will only be provided where it has been booked and paid for in advance.
If a customer has never been climbing before we STRONGLY ADVISE booking into an introduction session before they go climbing unsupervised.
Supervised Under 18
An adult who has registered at the centre may supervise up to two novice climbers aged 5-17 years, or 1 child aged 0-4 years.
This form must be filled out by an Over 18 Supervising Guardian and contain all the required information for that person and the Under 18 Child. This form must then be completed in full in all required fields and signed off by a member of Yonder Staff.
The Supervising Over 18 must be prepared to take full responsibility for the safety of the Under 18 climbers.
A single form must be filled out for each child, meaning the guardian must complete the form once for every under 18 child.
The Over 18 Guardian can supervise 2 x Under 18 novices between 5-17 years.
A Family Induction must be completed to ensure safe supervision.
A Duty Manager can override the Family induction requirement if they are confident of the Supervisors climbing experience.
Unsupervised Under 18
All children in the centre must be supervised by an adult unless they have been assessed by the management and registered for unsupervised climbing.
This unsupervised Under 18 option is only available to climbers aged between 14-18 years.
Parental/Guardian consent forms must be completed before any Under 18 is signed off to climb unsupervised. This form can be found on the website or at reception.
Some factors that make a climber eligible for the Unsupervised Under 18 assessment include:
GB Climbing Squad
NIBAS / NICAS
Any climbing centre squad or performance group
Known by a Yonder staff member to be climbing at a reasonably high level in a responsible manner and has at least more than 1 years climbing experience.
Parental/Guardian Consent Form
Parent/Guardian consent forms are required before any child (Under 18) can take part in any instructed activities. This is the case for in-house, freelance instructed sessions and when completing Unsupervised U18 forms.
In special circumstances, Under 18 year old climbers can be signed off as Unsupervised Under 18 climbers. As well as a specific assessment and Duty Manager sign off, a parent/guardian consent form must be completed before said Under 18 can climb unsupervised.
