KIDS & FAMILIES
If you have kids you’ll know that it’s nigh on impossible to stop them from climbing on anything and everything. Whether you are looking for an outlet for unspent energy or a healthy activity for the family we have plenty of options to get the nippers on the wall.
If you would like to bring your child to Yonder for the first time independently you will first need to book and complete a Family Induction.
A Family Induction Includes:
A warm up and a safety briefing on how to keep yourself and your child(ren) safe when utilising the Climbing Gym.
All equipment such as shoes, chalk and padlock will be provided on arrival.
After completing the Induction you will have as much time to climb as you would like at no extra cost.
1 Adult, 1 Child on a Family Induction will take 30 minutes
2 Adults, 2+ Children Family Inductions will take up to an hour
£40 for 1 Adult and 1 Child
£75 for 2 Adults and 2 Children
All supervisors will be asked to complete a Family Induction regardless of whether you have climbing experience or have been signed off at another centre.
All Under 18s must be supervised in the centre unless stated otherwise according to our Supervision Policies
FIRST TIME WITH KIDS
unsupervised Under 18
Further along in their climbing journey, 14+ year olds can be assessed by one of our experienced coaches and signed off to climb unsupervised at Yonder.
Prior to being assessed, they will need some climbing experience and know how to independently keep themselves safe in the centre.
It costs £20 for one child to be independently assessed
Please note that this assessment may not be recognised at other climbing gyms.

HOLIDAY CLUB
For ages 7-15 years. This day is a mixture of Climbing and Arts & Crafts, the perfect combo of entertainment physically and creatively.
Throughout the day the young people will be either introduced to, or hone their skills in the sport of bouldering (low level climbing without ropes). Our Coaches will guide them through these sessions, giving individual tips and tricks to help unlock their climbing prowess. They will also have the opportunity to express themselves in the arts & crafts element of the day, producing and taking home with them a cool hand-printed T-shirt, or a snipped and stuck paper collage.
The formality of the day is one hour for each activity in the morning, then an hour lunch, followed by another hour of each activity in the afternoon. During lunch there will be additional entertainment available. You can either bring a packed lunch or we have a holiday club lunch offer that you can book in advance.
-
The focuses within the sessions are self-confidence and expression.
Through climbing, the young people have the opportunity to learn that perseverance and focus are powerful tools that can help you achieve much more than you may think. Climbing builds on your strength, flexibility, kinaesthetic awareness and problem solving skills.
Followed up with an arts & crafts element where they will get a chance to express themselves in a non-formal environment and, as with all arts & crafts, will kindle their creative thinking, broaden their emotional intelligence and perspectives of the world.

YONDER SQUAD
-
Yonder Squad is designed to teach young climbers how to structure their training in the most effective way to improve their personal climbing. There is an element of competitive climbing involved and young people will be encouraged to attend a couple of Comps in the year to see what it's like, but climbing is a lifelong passion and we feel it is important to create the right foundations regardless of the young climbers goals.
-
Each Yonder Squad member will take part in 2 sessions a week during term time, starting around 5.30pm/5.45pm and each lasting 2- 2.5 hours.
Squad A will train Mondays and Wednesdays.
Squad B will train Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The Squads are grouped mainly depending on age and how long they have been training. Generally speaking, Squad A will be for the older and more experienced climbers and Squad B for the younger or less experienced climbers.
-
They will learn a variety of different training exercises designed to target different elements of their climbing (e.g. strength, endurance & recovery, flexibility, technique). These exercises are specifically geared towards young people, taking into account where they are in their own growth and development. They will learn how to access their own climbing and energy levels throughout the training cycles as well as how to prepare for Competitions.
The sessions will include a mix of physical training on the wall, technique drills, strength and conditioning, competition prep, tactics and psychological approach to climbs.
There will be 1-2-1 feedback each term to ensure each individual is aware of where they are in their training and what their targets are for the term, which goes hand-in-hand with a personalised training plan with additional exercises to take home.
-
If you are between the ages of 10 - 15 years old and climb regularly above V2 you can apply for our tryouts.
-
The cost is £165 per calendar month (bar August).
For this you get 4.5 hours of Coached training sessions, 1-2-1 consultation each term, personal training plans and free climbing outside of Squad sessions.
If the only thing holding you back is the price, you can apply for income support through our application for lower income families.
