Frequently Asked Questions

+ What is bouldering?

Bouldering is a form of indoor climbing that is performed on an artificial climbing wall without the use of ropes or a harness. This enables climbers to focus on form and technique. The climbing walls at Yonder have a maximum height of 4.5 meters meaning they are considered safe to climb without equipment, although safety always remains a priority. We believe bouldering is the most accessible and sociable form of climbing.

+ Do I need to be fit and strong?

Climbing is a great way to improve your health whatever your fitness level. Colour coded routes cater for beginners through to advanced levels meaning you can start out on easier grades and level up when ready. Bouldering is as much about technique as it is about strength, meaning all body shapes and sizes can enjoy climbing and reap the benefits regardless of your strength or flexibility level.

+ What should I wear?

You’ll want to wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely, basic sports gear is a good choice. Climbing is very physical so you’ll likely warm up quite quickly, however consider layering-up as we keep the centre cool and you might get a little chilly whilst not on the wall.

+ Can one child be booked onto multiple courses in a term?

  • A child can join on multiple courses though the reason for doing so should be discussed to see if it is beneficial to the child.
  • Although financially beneficial to Yonder, it may not be beneficial for the child to cover the same ground and topic in the same week.
  • It may be more beneficial for the child to consolidate their learning with either supervised climbing with their parent or a coach.

+ How soon before the next course can a customer book onto it?

  • If our systems allow, a parent can book for their child to attend a course for the full year

+ What is the refund policy for the whole course?

  • All cancelations will be consisdered on a case by case basis but as standard, if a term has started, there can be no refund for that term, unless there is opportunity to find a child and parent willing to take their place.

+ If the child misses a class or multiple classes is a refund available? If so, under what circumstances?

  • We’ll consider each case but a refund would not be normally available as per our cancellation policy.

+ There are no spaces left on the date I would like, what can I do instead?

  • A family induction. This provides the child the opportunity to climb with their parent until a place becomes available.
  • Join our waiting list by emailing info@thisisyonder.com and let us know the age of your child/children
