CLIMBING GUIDE

FALLING OFF AND DESCENDING

  1. Avoid uncontrolled falls. They are likely to result in injury to yourself or others. Always down climb where possible or at the very least, a controlled fall.

  2. Plan the easiest way down before you climb up.

  3. Practise falling off in a controlled manner before pushing your limits.

  4. Be aware of other climbers and their fall zones.

  5. The mats do not remove the risk of injury so you must exercise care, common sense and self preservation at all times.

TOP OUT RULES

The center boulder in the main ground level area hosts some top out climbs.

  1. ONLY top out on the routes that say top out on the start tag.

  2. NEVER down climb ‘top out’ climbs. Use the slide or the stairs to descend from the top out boulder.

  3. Use the slide safely by… checking there is no one at the bottom and go feet first.

Spotting

Spotting involves helping someone to control their fall, not trying to catch them!

Do not attempt to spot someone unless you are confident you can do it safely.
